“They could be described as ‘Folk driven pop music tapestry weavers’, or simply just call them WONDERFUL”
- Gary O'Dea / Gojo' Music
“Birdbrother delighted the audience with a unique prog-folk vibe that felt thoroughly modern and deeply traditional at the same time”
- At The Barrier
“In my top 3 highlights of the weekend. Crazy beautiful music. Thank you and keep it going”
- Richard Reynolds
“Fantastic. Your performance at our Castle Gardens was exceptional and it was a pleasure to work with you both.”
- Jen Bone (Bridgnorth Music and Arts Festival)
“Birdbrother!!! Only Friday and one of the sets of the festival in this Reviewers ‘umble opinion. New to these ears, but they delivered a set of absolutely lovely, lilting melodies from the velvet voiced Stapley, augmented by backing vocals and superb percussion and flute from cohort Beadle. Great tunes; Great musicianship; a band with their own vibe – go check ‘em out.”
- Festivals for All
“Birdbrother, one of the highlights of my Fiddler’s Arms Stage”
- Geoff Lakeman
“We wandered into The Fiddlers at random and were completely blown away. Now stalking you on YouTube. Easily one of the highlights of the weekend and hope you will be back on a bigger stage. The Big Top is ready for you.
- James Rogers
Haunting, hypnotic songs with soaring vocal bliss for your delectation!
Birdbrother is a duo which comprises singer-songwriter Philip Stapley on guitar with his musical partner and multi-instrumentalist Paul Beadle.
While Philip’s etheric soothing tones transport the listener to distant melancholic realms, Paul enchants with his energetic and unique flute, percussion, guitar and mandolin.
They have played at a variety of venues and festivals, including Beardy Folk Festival, Green Gathering, Beautiful Days Festival, The Kitchen Garden Cafe, Narrowboat Sessions, Bridgnorth Music and Arts Festival, Katie Fitzgerald’s, Ludlow Green Fair, The Woodman Folk Club, Brimfield Folk Club, The Next Level Folk Club, amongst others.
Birdbrother play original songs of love, life and spirituality, painting a romantic, inspiring, optimistic, thought-provoking, yet sometimes melancholic picture. Their brand of psychedelic, dream-weaving has been compared to that of Nick Drake, Donovan and John Martyn and undoubtedly has its roots in 60’s/70’s progressive, acoustic folk.
Birdbrother’s second album ‘Counting on the Sun’ was released in 2025.
